Gugan Gulwan Youth Aboriginal Corporation acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we walk, work, live and learn. We honour Elders past and present and extend our respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who now call this region home. We recognise the strength, wisdom and care they bring to community, and the vital role they play in supporting our young people and families to grow strong, connected and thriving together.

Street Beat Youth Outreach Program

The Gugan Gulwan Street Beat Youth Outreach Program is a tailored health program to reach vulnerable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth in the ACT region. Street Beat is a culturally safe outreach program operating on Friday and Saturday evenings, bringing Gugan Gulwan directly into the Canberra community. Our team works on the ground, engaging with young people in community spaces to provide support, practical assistance, and harm minimisation resources. This includes the provision of sexual health information, safe sex packs, drink spiking prevention kits, and wellbeing support.

Street Beat works in collaboration with ACT Policing and other community stakeholders to help ensure young people have a safe, trusted place to turn to during evening hours.
The program prioritises relationship-building, early intervention, and culturally informed support to keep young people safe and connected.

If an urgent matter arises during the Street Beat operating hours, please send a message to the Street Beat Mobile on 0478 405 394.
Our team operates between 7:00pm and 11:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

Young people and community members can contact us via the above mobile number for support.
