Gugan Gulwan Youth Aboriginal Corporation acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land in which we work, live, and learn. We pay our respect to Elders past and present and extend our respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who have moved to this region and the important role they all play in ensuring our young people and our families thrive in a connected, strong, and nurturing community.

Community Arts Program

This Gugan Gulwan Community Arts program is designed to target Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people currently receiving treatment for alcohol, drug, and/or mental health issues. The program is designed to build connections and alleviate isolation and exclusion, as a number of young people come from interstate for support and treatment. Art is recognised as a therapeutic method of engaging clients in culture, self-healing, expression, treatment, and rehabilitation, and can address any current or previous behaviours of concern. The program has a strong cultural foundation that further enhances the individual’s understanding of the self.

For more information about the Community Arts Program, please contact the Program Coordinator at 6296 8900, Monday to Friday.

The Gugan Gulwan Community Art Program runs every Tuesday from 11am-3 pm at Burrunju Art Gallery and is open to young people up to 25 years of age.
