The Gugan Gulwan StreetBeat Youth Outreach Program is a tailored health program to reach vulnerable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth in the ACT region. It operates on Friday and Saturday nights targeting meeting places and identified “trouble spots”. The program is holistic in its delivery providing intensive immediate support to individuals with a broad range of information, resources and services.

 

Objectives:

The core objectives and outcomes of the Gugan Gulwan StreetBeat Youth Outreach program are:

  • Engagement of vulnerable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth;

  • Health promotion, information and resources;

  • Health lifestyles and decision making;

  • Alcohol, tobacco and drug information;

  • Advocacy;

  • Referrals and linkages;

  • Encourage and promote cultural practices and understanding;

  • Harm minimisation strategies and information;

  • Family support

 

The Gugan Gulwan StreetBeat Youth Outreach program operates Friday and Saturday nights from 7-11pm across the ACT.
